What is L.E.M. Lauren Designs?

L.E.M. Lauren Designs is a mother and daughter-ran studio based in Kansas City, creating one of a kind leather journals from Italian vegetable-tanned leather, fabric, jewelry, and other carefully selected materials.

Each journal is individually designed and made by us, including the sewing of its coordinating fabric folio. Because every piece is unique, no two journals are exactly alike.

Where can I purchase a journal?

Our journals are released in limited seasonal collections through our online shop. We also create exclusive inventory for select in person events.

Our next in person event is the Dark Flame Society Book Convention in Kansas City on November 7 and 8, 2026.

Our next confirmed online collection is our Holiday Drop on Small Business Saturday, November 28, 2026.

Join our mailing list for collection dates, previews, early announcements, and any additional releases added to our calendar.

Do you accept commissions or custom orders?

We are not currently accepting commissions or custom orders.

We have moved to a seasonal collection model that allows us to create a wider variety of designs while giving us the freedom to follow new materials, themes, and ideas as we work.

All upcoming collections will be announced through our mailing list First.

Can you recreate a journal from a previous collection?

No. Every L.E.M. Lauren Designs journal is one of a kind, and we do not make exact replicas of previous designs.

We may revisit a theme, color palette, piece of artwork, or design concept in the future, but the resulting journal will be its own unique piece.

What sizes do you offer?

Our collections may include A5, B6, A6, Pocket, and passport sizes depending on the collection.

Not every size is included in every release.

Individual product listings include the journal sizes, number of elastics, included inserts, and other details specific to that piece.

What is included with a journal?

Each listing will specify exactly what is included with that particular journal.

Our journals generally include the leather journal cover, a coordinating fabric folio sewn by us, and notebook inserts. Some designs also feature jewelry, charms, specialty hardware, or other decorative elements.

Because each journal is individually designed, materials and included pieces vary. Be sure to carefully read descriptions and see photos fully.

How much do your journals cost?

Pricing varies according to journal size, leather, fabric, jewelry, specialty materials, and the complexity of the design.

We create collections with a range of price points, from more understated designs to elaborate pieces featuring premium materials and jewelry.

You can find general starting prices by size in our price guide. Final pricing for each journal will always be listed with the individual piece when a collection becomes available.

Why are only a limited number of journals available?

Every journal is individually made by our two-person studio. We work in small batches and release completed pieces through curated seasonal collections rather than maintaining mass produced inventory.

Once a one of a kind journal sells, that particular piece will not be restocked.

How do your online drops work?

Before each collection, we announce the release date and time through our mailing list first.

When the collection opens, available journals can be purchased directly through our website. Because each journal is one of a kind, most listings have an available quantity of one.

Adding a journal to your cart does not guarantee purchase. The journal is yours once checkout has been successfully completed and your order is confirmed.

Do your collections sell out quickly?

Some previous collections have sold out within minutes, while availability varies with every release.

If you are interested in a particular collection, we recommend reviewing previews and collection information before the scheduled release so you are familiar with the pieces you may want to purchase.

Do you offer early access?

Early access may be offered for select collections or special events and priority consideration is given to mailing list subscribers. Details will be announced when early access is available.

Joining our mailing list is the best way to receive collection information and announcements.

We also reserve a small number of advance purchasing opportunities for patrons who may need additional time or assistance to shop due to an accessibility need. If an accommodation would make one of our collections more accessible to you, you are welcome to reply to the collection announcement email. You do not need to share personal or medical information with us, and we will do our best to accommodate requests based on availability.

Because we are a two-person studio and each journal is one of a kind, the number of advance purchasing accommodations available for each collection will be limited.

Where do you ship?

We ship throughout the United States from Kansas City, MO, and we plan to offer international shipping to supported destinations through our website.

Shipping options and rates are calculated during checkout based on the destination and package.

Available countries and shipping options will appear during checkout. International patrons are responsible for any applicable customs duties, import taxes, VAT, or other charges required by their destination country unless otherwise stated during checkout.

What happens if a journal I wanted is sold out?

Once a one-of-a-kind journal sells, that exact design is gone.

We encourage you to join our mailing list for future collections. Although we do not reproduce previous journals, themes and design ideas may be explored again in entirely new pieces.

How can I contact you?

You can reach us through our website contact form.

We are a two-person studio, and during production periods and collection launches we may need additional time to respond. We appreciate your patience while we work through messages.
